The Jensen’s selected Spanish / Boer cross bred goats to form their base herd. The Spanish does have a hardiness and ability to thrive on a wide variety of forage species, and travel great distances in a day. We cross-bred Spanish does with Boer bucks, which are known to pass on great mothering ability, gentle temperament, and large frames for meat production to their kids. Our percentage breeding of these two has produced us the ultimate grazing tool and the success of our meat goat market.

Spring on the Hyde Creek Ranch is the most enjoyable of all. It’s the time of year the new members of Weed goats 2000 join the herd. These babies are offspring of our fall breeding program, with arrival of singles, twins, and triplets. The next 60 days keep the ranch hopping with excitement. These babies are raised with the herd, where they learn to work with the dogs, people, coral systems, health care and large feeding equipment. Our goats are then divided up into herds that are specifically designed to work on a particular weed project. Here, their adult mothers will introduce them to a wide variety of feed sources and learn the concept of grazing.
